FYI I received my EAD card this morning!!! I know yours are all coming soon! It never updated online it just said that the approval notice was sent- it never said card ordered.

The culprit being subjected to Gandhigiri (Gandhi-ism: A strategy to win unjust,corrupt mind by highly unexpected pleasant deeds.)has some shame and self respect.If the target is a moron, he would slap you to death, no matter how many chances you give him.
In our case we don't even know who the culprit is (USCIS/DOS/Capitol Hill/Anti-Immigrants/Lobbyists). The only thing that would come out of these flowers is a security alarm. I know many would take this as a negative approach, but this is the most logical outcome of this deed.
On a lighter note, if sending flowers/fruits would have won hearts of the immigration officers, imagine how easy GC would be for those illegal immigrants who work in the farms.
For all those bouquets your sending... they will dismiss it as some security breach... cmon dont u know by now how USCIS is after 9-11.
They might just create panic out of innocent lovely flowers.

Does any one know what is the time table for SKILL, PACE?
If I understood correctly, SKILL BILL will not tabled unless CIR is dead?
Assuming CIR wont be there in end of July, what would or how SKILL or PACE get a chance to be discussed?

yes ..I agree with most of the above. the new admin is more protectionist .. I wonder if the analysis will show that a large number of immigrant visas were wasted !!!

ok suri, while you work 30 hours and make money for yourself, let me take your burden and share my research with you. Here is what you have to do to see the result -

- check box for client name
- click 'submit' button
- enter 'Immigration Voice' in the client name
- click 'submit' button
Now you see the amount spent by IV for lobbying in the Senate documents. Please do the total and let me know how much is that amount. I am not "highly skilled" like you, so I can't calculate?
Do you know anyone who spent 1/2 million on lobbying for our issues. Maybe your friends have spent that money.

Its good to see this thread is still active. I just came home after 30 hrs non-stop work due to our product launch. I did go through quickly on all the posts after my post and I really didnt get the point I was looking for. I will respond to each of you tomorrow in one post.
The response I see for any type of campaign in the form of contributions is pathetic, based on the number of people waiting and those who are active. We will go nowhere, but this must change, and we will help.
I will now have to sleep for 5 hrs and then go back.

I 140 approved - Dec 2006
I 485 Date received July 2nd 2007
RD - checks were cashed (date - July 30, 2007)
FP - Got a mail from USCIS regarding finger printing (scheduled - August 29,2007)
So far no receipt by mail, application is at Nebraska.

I dont have a problem signing 1 yr agreement because my 140 will take at least another 8 months ( Feb 08) and by the time next years budget opens up for good new Jobs its already Mar 08.

Please read IRS links I posted above re independent contractor vs. worker. Since you'll be filing your taxes as an independent contractor/sole proprietor on 1099, you'll be considered "self-employed." AC21 allows self-employment. You may not be formally opening a company, but you'll be self-employed.
Now, after reading the last few posts, it looks like there are three things I need to worry about in case of a RFE -
1. Job should be bona fide (without going into the definition of the word).
My project is going to be with a large Bank through a big, wellknown consulting/outsourcing company. That should take care of the 'bonafide' part.
All self-employment is legitimate--so no need to worry. Another option is o get the EVL from the staffing company in case of RFE. Your subcontract with the bank is immaterial.
2. Should have similar/same job duties/responsibilities.
I am still waiting for the contract, however I can have my job duties/responsibilities listed out in my contract with the company. I am sure I can get a letter from the client too if it comes to that.
Your self-employment under AC21 has to be same or similar job. If the contracting co can give you an EVL (in case of an RFE), good enough. If not, you can create one for your self-employed "Sole Proprietorship." I wouldn't bother the staffing company*now* for an EVL.
3. Job should be permanent - This is something I may not be able to prove. Since the project is short term, I am sure my contract will mention that. I am trying to convince the company to at least include "contract-to-hire" in the language of the contract. Since this project has potential of becoming long term, company is not averse to this idea.
Will having 'contract-to-hire' in the contract take care of this question (if a RFE comes).
All self-employment is "permanent." The staffing co may be able to write that on EVL. I wouldn't talk with the staffing co about that now: worry about that only in case of an RFE.

For me, since my 140 was approved in TSC, my attorney sent 485 to TSC.
