Thanks for posting your experience. Did you apply for your SIN and your PR card? Do you (or anyone else) have any info on how that's done or what the procedure is?

Finally we have decided to go back to India for good. I filed my EB3 in May 2003. Its going to be another 4 years to get the green card. When I went to India for vacation last December, we liked it over there & the economy is booming. There are all sorts of discussion regarding the Economic Gap/Politics/Corruption/Cleanliness. But we like it over there. Finally I will have an option to do something interesting. In US I was very much dependent on my monthly pay check and afraid to take even the slightest risk. I am also scared to use the AC21(Hey, thats the way I am). I am working with the same company for last 10 years, kinda stagnant in the last 4 years. In India, there are lots of choices, either to work for a sw company or start some business on my own. I think I will take the business route.
May be I can go there, earn well, send my son to US for college, do green card through him & come retire in US!!!

Great relief, moved one step up in the line!!! Just kidding. all the best man. I believe India has growth potential for next 15-20 years. India need to mix few ingredients to its growth like law & order, infrastructure, accountability, reduce bribery, traffic education etc..

I just wanted to disagree the with title of the thread.. All EB3 is "U" why only call to action for EB3-I.. Please dont limit your view of the world(in this case IV)...Work for the betterment of all in EB3 and EB2 and all EB categories....

No mine did not say that for myself or my husband. It just said approval notice sent. It still says the same thing it has never changed or been updated. It could be there system- who knows! I hope you get yours soon! Keep me updated.
It says approval notice sent? Do they send an approval for 765/EAD? I thought they would just send the card directly? Anyway, my spouse's ead says card in production and you should get it in 30days. Mine still says case recevied on Aug 31 and notice mailed out... But LUD on both applications is today...Will keep you posted...

It is not his lunch. We should not see all this as a zero sum game. We all ought to learn not to get dragged into meaningless Eb2 v/s Eb3 fight. It doesn't help anyone. Some of us in IV core had the opportunity to see this situation very closely and witness how it plays out in Washington. No matter who says/starts Eb2 v/s Eb3 fight, you will not get any different response from IV.
Our position and work on this situation is very clear. We are all in this together and we should all help each other out instead of pulling each other down. This is the only way to fix the problem.

Section 202 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) states that the per-country limit for preference immigrants is set at 7% of the total annual employment-based preference limits. This means a country with large population like India and a tiny country like Lichtenstein get same number of visa numbers. This system is designed to systematically discriminate people from India and China by preventing them from attaining employment visas. More research needs to be done whether this constitutes a violation of US Equal Employment Opportunity Law. We need to find out whether this constitutes discrimination by national origin. i'm glad someone brought this up, i'm in the same boat, came in 1998, applied in jul 2003 eb2.
i think it is important to get at the bottom of what is making one depressed, is it the gc necessarily, or is it not being able to do what you want to do? if it is the process itself, well - joining IV or talking to people and fighting for a cause is the way to go.
if it is not the process itself, then it is another story.
in my case, the gc process really started affecting me and became a topic of daily discussion in the family in the past 2 yrs, after i finished my mba from a top 5 school, and was unable to switch jobs because it meant starting tge process all over again. i could care less about a gc if i could do jobs that i wanted to. in your case, it might be something else, maybe career related or otherwise.
my stand is now simple, after 180 days are over in dec, i'm going to do what i want to do i.e switch jobs etc, i've applied to canada as a backup, something goes wrong, i'll leave the usa. i'm not willing to put any more of my life in a 'prison' than i already have.
you may have a different stand, but as long as you have one, and understand that the gc is nowhere as important as your mental health and well-being, you will be fine.

I totally agree - our concern should begin and end with whether our interests are addressed or not. This is not the time to argue and nitpick on what is good for the whole world in the long term - remember, there is no "long term" for us without a GC. Lets be realistic - its a done deal that EB reform if all it comes up, will come with either a generous H1-B increase or illegal alien amnesty or both of them. Its not our job to worry about excessive immigration - the anti-immigrants and their friendly congressmen are always there to raise a hue and cry and dilute any and all pro-immigrant proposals. With them at work, if we ask for a yard we will get a foot, if we ask for a foot we will end up with not even an inch.
Well, it is not a perfect world. It is not a perfect system. When CIR comes up every group will push for their interests. If u send a mail to any Senator, all u get is a standard reply about H1-B. It will be impossible to educate every ligislator. We have to do the best we can to voice our concerns and go with the tide. We cannot nitpick the sections of the CIR and tell the legislators vote only for these. We just make sure that our issues are addressed in whatever bill comes up.

I know that IV core members are busy with their own jobs and helping with IV but I think this is an important discussion because it can be done with an administrative fix. If primary applicants are allotted GC's from EB 1,2 and 3 and dependents from FB2A it saves a lot of visa numbers. Somebody pls contact IV core directly and get them involved in this discussion.
This concept is not unique and is being done for age out children before CSPA (Child status protection act) and for children of US citizens and permanent residents who get married before getting GC.

I have finally received my FP notice today for my I-485. My case was NSC-CSC-NSC. Never made any service request.
I have recently applied (paper based) for renewal of EAD and AP. Not sure if that triggered the FP notice.

VISA BULLETIN FOR JUNE 2009 sets back EB2 priority back to 01JAN00.
Some thing needs to be done. The easist will be not counting ebdependents in ebquota. This should be very easy. There is no INA law linking ebquota with ebdependents.

This will affect children of those immigrants who are reaching 18 or 21. The law says you can get the dependent GC only if you are under 18 or 21. All of them will be affected. The best thing would be not to count them in any quota like they do for immediate relatives of citizens.

We have been waiting for more than 100 days. We applied exactly 120 days before our current EAD was going to expire. When I called USCIS (after 90 days) , Customer Service told that that don�t have our finger prints in file. I never got any notice and my lawyer said they don�t need finger prints for paper filed application and they should use I485 finger prints. So I took the infopass appointment. IO was nice and he was willing to listen. He said the same thing (missing finger prints). I showed him the fingerprint receipts from last year and also showed the USCIS memo talking about interim EAD. He said no to interim EAD. But called Texas Service Center right then. Person on the other end offered to call back in 5 minutes and he did. IO came back and told us that there was some thing wrong at their end and they will port my finger print information from 485 to EAD application. But he said it would take 10 � 15 business days more. Our current EAD were expiring soon and I called congresswoman�s office next day. Got the approval email yesterday evening. Don�t know what worked. But what a huge relief.
